 “I traveled to Southern California last May for a conference, and had the opportunity to get out birding the day before the conference began. I chose San Joaquin Wildlife Preserve, and could not have been more thrilled at the opportunity. The highlight were a pair of American Avocets, and several black-necked stilts, which were feeding in several shallow ponds as the sun went down. The lighting was just spectacular, and the photo does not really do justice to the real thing. I hope you enjoy the photograph as much as I did!”
