Killdeer are a shorebird that you can also find on golf courses, pastures, and even in parking lots, searching for insects with a ‘run and stop’ technique. They nest on open ground and too often in gravel parking lots. When they are alarmed, they vocalize so loudly that everyone knows something is not right in the habitat!
