Bringing Down the Dams

August 17, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Elaine Marsh, award-winning Watershed Specialist with the Summit Metro Parks, comes to the Hudson Library & Historical Society on August 17 at 7 p.m. to tell the story of the 100 year Gorge dam, its possible removal and current issues facing the Cuyahoga River. The Gorge Dam is a fascinating tale of gravity and water, of scenic beauty, water contamination, and competing economies. March will discuss how our vision for the use of the Gorge has evolved and the transformative benefits of dismantling the dam.

Marsh is a much honored and experienced environmentalist having worked with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Cleveland Waterfront Coalition and co-founder of Friends of the Crooked River. She is the recipient of the John F. Seiberling Award, Water Conservationist of the Year from the League of Ohio Sportsmen, the Conservation Award from the Garden Club of America, Ohio Environmental Council Woman of the Year Award, Woman of the Year from Akron Women’s History Project and the Ohio Science Advisory Board for Environmental Health and Protection.
