Common Redpoll
When the seed crop in Canada is poor, we hope to see Redpolls in NE Ohio. These 5.3” birds weigh just 0.5 ounces but can withstand extreme cold while foraging for seeds in woods and even open agricultural fields. Some redpolls tunnel deep into snow to escape the cold.
