SUMMARY:South Florida Birding Trip  Non-ASGC
DESCRIPTION:Instructors: Dr. Andy Jones\, Dr. David Kriska\, Michelle Leighty-Jones and Ashley Hall\n\n\nCold weather and snow got you down? Join Cleveland Museum of Natural History staff on a tropical trip down to southern Florida for a week of birding and more! Pack your suitcase and bring your binoculars as we search for Florida’s most charismatic and enigmatic birds and other wildlife in a variety of habitats. South Florida teems with diversity\, all set against a backdrop of beautiful habitats as well as a complex history of invasive species and habitat loss. We will explore some of the best-preserved and managed sites\, from Everglades National Park down to the Florida Keys. Along the way\, we will see a diverse set of birds\, including species unique to the southeastern United States as well as wintering populations of warblers we only see during migration in Ohio. We have built an itinerary around seeing many species of birds in a variety of habitats\, but we will also explore the animal and plant diversity as we go\, and we will discuss their conservation status and successes along the way.  \nCost includes transportation in Florida\, accommodations\, some meals\, admission to parks and sanctuaries\, and a great opportunity to learn from Museum experts.
